It feels good when we make people happy, when we fulfill the expectations of others and when we go the extra mile to satisfy their desires and wishes.
And although we might attend to others’ needs wilfully, often we do it because we are starved of acknowledgement, recognition, validation and acceptance, losing our own identity and ignoring our own needs during that process.
We might be afraid of breaking up the cycle of people pleasing for fear of not feeling wanted or loved and dauntingly, making connections with deep feelings of rejection, abandonment and of not being worthy or good enough?
But what about if we offered ourselves a bit of the energy and encouragement that we give to others in noticing and realising that we deserve our own validation and acceptance with compassion, kindness and humanity.
Because we are all humans, unique and equal at the same time.
